Now that the hoopla surrounding the LA Galaxy vs FC Barcelona friendly match has subsided we can take a look back and appreciate the scale of this momentous event.
After all…it was the largest soccer game on US soil since the World Cup final in 1994.

The final numbers are in…93,137 people packed the Rose Bowl and witnessed an impressive effort by the Galaxy against global powerhouse FC Barcelona making this “the largest soccer crowd in the United States since the 1994 World Cup Final (94,194)” according to mlsnet.com.
The highlight of the game came just before the half when, in true David Beckham fashion, he bent one over the Barcelona line on a free kick to tie the game 1-1.

After spending four years with his hometown team FC Dallas, MLS All-Star foward Kenny Cooper was sold yesterday to Germany’s 1860 Munich.
Cooper was the all-time leading scorer in FC Dallas history and was voted the teams MVP in 2008.

A sold out crowd of 85,000 people are expected to pack the Rose Bowl tonight to watch global stars Thierry Henry, Xavi, Lionel Messi and their club FC Barcelona kick off their U.S. tour against the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Judging from the recent Chelsea FC v Inter-Milan match at the Rose Bowl tonight’s game should be a star studded event.
