Who Will Make The US World Cup Roster?

soccerWho would you send to South Africa next summer? Instead of trying to crawl inside Bob Bradley’s head to see what he thinks let’s leave the speculation to Yanks Abroad.

There are 23 plane tickets booked to South Africa and apparently veteran DaMarcus Beasley will be stopped at the airport by security and not let anywhere near the plane, while Jay DeMerit and Jonathan Spector can now sit back and relax and order the cocktail of their choice.

Unfortunately they are predicting Sacha Kljestan will join Beasley on the outside looking in but we will keep our hopes up because Sacha still has nearly a year to impress Coach Bradley, including time in the Gold Cup as he was a last minute addition to the U.S. roster.

Check out the full list to find out who should “pack their bags,” who is “nearly a lock,” and which players are “a fairly safe bet,” “in a battle,” “have work to do,” and more.

US Expands Gold Cup Roster By Seven Players

Picture 2Under pressure from the U.S., CONCACAF is allowing the U.S. to draw from a 30-man roster while the other 11 teams in the three-week tournament are limited to only 23 players.

A statement from U.S. Soccer said the provision was provided “due to the extreme circumstances that teams face” when playing in consecutive tournaments so close together.

Bob Bradley, the U.S. coach, immediately took advantage of CONCACAF’s generosity Thursday by adding seven players from his Confederations Cup team to his Gold Cup roster: goalkeeper Brad Guzan, defender Jonathan Bornstein, midfielders Ricardo Clark, Benny Feilhaber and Sacha Kljestan, and forwards Jozy Altidore and Conor Casey.
