Planning on taking a South African safari during your time at the 2010 World Cup? Better plan ahead!
South Africa is gearing up to attract over 10-million tourists during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The tourism board is telling tourist to begin bookings at its national parks a year ahead of the World Cup in order to ensure visitors easy access.
San Parks, which manages 21 national parks across the country, opened bookings for June and July next year to enable tourists who want to be accommodated in any of South Africa’s world-renowned national parks to plan ahead and avoid being locked out due to high demand.
If you plan on going on safari between games South Africa is the place to be – it has five major safari regions and boasts some of the best lodges and wildlife viewing on the continent.
From all that I’ve heard Kruger National Park is the best of the bunch and it is easily accessible from most 2010 World Cup locations – check out this site for more information on how to book a safari at Kruger National Park.
After the jump check out “The Battle of Kruger,” one of the most popular YouTube videos of all-time and a look at what you might expect while on safari. Continue reading
Akon, who lived in Senegal until he was 15-years-old, has confirmed his involvement in 2010 FIFA World Cup soundtrack project.
“I’m going to South Africa for a meeting about the 2010 World Cup. I’m the official music coordinator. It means I’ll produce the official World Cup song and I’ll oversee all the official music,” the R&B singer revealed in an interview with The London Paper this week.
Read all about Akon’s involvement with the 2010 World Cup then watch this video that landed the rapper in hot water a few years back for simulating sex on a 14-year-old girl while onstage.
Who would you send to South Africa next summer? Instead of trying to crawl inside Bob Bradley’s head to see what he thinks let’s leave the speculation to Yanks Abroad.
There are 23 plane tickets booked to South Africa and apparently veteran DaMarcus Beasley will be stopped at the airport by security and not let anywhere near the plane, while Jay DeMerit and Jonathan Spector can now sit back and relax and order the cocktail of their choice.
Unfortunately they are predicting Sacha Kljestan will join Beasley on the outside looking in but we will keep our hopes up because Sacha still has nearly a year to impress Coach Bradley, including time in the Gold Cup as he was a last minute addition to the U.S. roster.
Check out the full list to find out who should “pack their bags,” who is “nearly a lock,” and which players are “a fairly safe bet,” “in a battle,” “have work to do,” and more.
